Reception

Welcome to Reception

In Reception we have a play based curriculum following the guidance from The Early Years Foundation Stage. We plan topics each half term and also include work which builds on the children’s own interests and experiences. The children take part in school trips as part of this work and we have lots of visitors who come to work with us in class. The children this year have been to visit The Pier Head Liverpool, Liverpool World Museum and Walton Hall Park and Gardens. We have regular visits from our School Nurse, Police Liaison Office, Trix the Clown and The Bug Man!

Our topics for the year are:

• Autumn Term – Journeys, Toys and Play
• Spring Term – Dinosaurs, Animals
• Summer Term – Space, Beaches

Reception A has been looking at the work of Andy Goldsworthy. The artist uses natural materials to make his pictures and then photographs them. The children in Reception visited Delamere Forest to collect their own materials and to make some of their own pictures.
