Partner Schools

Hungary

Here at All Saints we value the links we have with each of our partner schools. We have forged a close link over a number of years with our Hungarian partners, Deak Ferenc, in Szentes. We arranged for our partners from Hungary to visit us here in Liverpool last summer at the same time as our Irish partners. A number of our children were involved in the activity days whilst they were here. The children have emailed and written to each other and each of our schools are in the process of putting calendars together.

At the end of May, nineteen children from our school choir and a number of our staff visited Szentes in Hungary. Whilst there, the children from All Saints, Szentes and Cork will all take part in a concert that the town holds annually.

Belgium

In May 2009 a group of ten children from years 4 and 5 travelled to Durbury in the South of Belgium for a week of outdoor adventure activities with our partner school from Veurne.

We travelled on the overnight ferry from Hull to Zeebrugge and then continued our journey to Durbury in the minibus. On arrival we began taking part in some fantastic activities in the stunning Ardennes countryside, all led by qualified instructors. These included swimming, treasure hunts, orienteering, ‘death slide’, rock climbing & night caving!

We all had a fabulous (muddy) time and many of the children are still in contact with the Belgian children they met.

Ireland

Over the past two years we have been involved in a Comenius Project funded by the British Council, which has enabled us to make another link with a school in Cork, Ireland.

Our Irish partners came to visit us in Liverpool last summer and we organised various activities whilst they were here. Communication has continued between the children since, and we are looking forward to future visits.

America - California

San Carlos School is a beautiful school situated next to the Cathedral Church of Saint Charles in Monterey, California. The school is situated beside the Pacific Ocean and the children are able to enjoy a strongly outdoor curriculum due to the beautiful climate.

We have had some lovely gifts from San Carlos school, especially the wonderful “All Saints” paintings that adorn our walls in school. We have also held a very interesting video conference between both Year 6 groups. The local Bishop, Richard Garcia of Monterey also took part and is looking forward to his first visit to Bootle in the near future.

Sierra Leone

We have a strong partnership with our friends at St. Raphael’s Catholic Primary School in Sierra Leone. Teachers visited in 2008 and most recently in February 2010. We were also honoured for Mr Sylvanus Kargbo, Headteacher of St Raphael’s who visited All Saints in 2008.

The children and teachers between both schools have a great relationship which makes a direct impact on learning and curriculum links.

China

In October 2009 a group of children and staff went to visit our partner school in Chongquing. The visit was a great success and the children and staff will never forget the experience. We were given a very warm welcome by Yubei and all of the teachers of Bashu Primary.

During the visit we were given a guided tour of Chongquing by the English teachers. The children took part in lessons and enjoyed calligraphy, Tai Kwando, traditional Chinese dance, planting seedlings in Sunny Farm and taking part in discussion forums led by the Chinese children. Mr Belger also taught English lessons to the children.

We are very lucky to have made such an excellent partnership with the children, families and staff at Bashu Primary and we look forward to the future when we can create new friendships for the children and staff of All Saints and Bashu Primary.
