This week we received news that following a number of visits to the school and our submission of a portfolio of evidence to a scrutiny panel, our school has been awarded School of Sanctuary status.
We will attend on Awards Evening at Liverpool Town Hall in September. This accreditation is something all of us should be immensely proud of—we are Sefton’s first school to achieve this status and I am personally delighted that Bootle is leading the way in being a place of welcome and nurture.
A School of Sanctuary is a school that is committed to being a safe and welcoming place for those seeking sanctuary. It is a space for those whose lives were in danger in their own country, who have troubles at home or are just looking for a space where they feel safe. It helps students, staff and wider community understand what it means to be seeking sanctuary and to extend a welcome to everyone as equal, valued members of the school community. It is a school that is proud to be a place of safety and inclusion for all.
