Liverpools' Lord Mayor, Councillor Malcolm Kennedy presented our School of Sanctuary Certificate at Liverpools' Awards Ceremony held on 12th September at Liverpool Town Hall. The event celebrated the excellent work undertaken by schools across the city to promote harmony and understanding amongst Liverpools' diverse communities. Our school was represented at the event by Mrs Wilkins, Deputy Chair of Governors and by Mrs Holleran.
School of Sanctuary status is a powerful acknowledgement of our schools' commitment to being a safe and welcoming place for every child and their family, promoting equality and understanding.
We are also proud to be the first school in Sefton to achieve this accreditation.
A School of Sanctuary is a school that is committed to being a safe and welcoming place for those seeking sanctuary. It is a space for those whose lives were in danger in their own country, who have troubles at home or are just looking for a space where they feel safe. It helps students, staff and wider community understand what it means to be seeking sanctuary and to extend a welcome to everyone as equal, valued members of the school community.
