Year 3 2024 - 2025

Welcome to Year 3

As year 3 is a transition year from infants to juniors, we work extremely hard and have a ‘work hard, never give up’ attitude.

As you are aware, reading is extremely important to develop your child’s speaking, listening and writing skills; so we encourage you to read with your child daily and also let them listen to you read.

We also work super hard in our maths lessons, building on our existing knowledge and experiencing new learning. In year 3, we focus on our 3, 4, and 8 times tables so feel free to practice these at home with your child. This half term In English we will be reading ‘The Secret of Black Rock’ and Stone Age Boy.

During a typical hectic week in year 3, we develop our knowledge in other subjects, such as RE (Come and See syllabus), Science, History, Geography, French, Music, Computing, PSHE, PE and Art. This term we are currently looking at rocks and investigating their uses which the children are enjoying. We are looking at our local area and map skills in Geography.

We also take part in daily collective worship sessions to reflect on our busy day and daily lives.

Remember, if you ever have any worries, concerns or questions, feel free to make an appointment to have a chat!

Reminders:

Reading –  Daily. Please make sure that these are signed and dated along with the page numbers that your child has read.
